countermand : a customer’s demand to a payer bank that the bank dishonor a check payable for the customer’s account. In Iran the customer must have at least true equivalent of the amount of the subject check in the bank in order to be entitled to this liberty; a stop order. Basically a countermand is a change or revocation of orders, authority, or instructions previously issued. It may be either express or implied; the former where the order or instruction already given is explicitly annulled or recalled; the latter where the party’s conduct is incompatible with the further continuance of the order or instruction, as where a new order is given inconsistent with the former order
